Busy Busy Mom!!
Phew! Been so busy both at work n at home!! My dad's had a successful 2nd operation last week, he's out of ICU n recovering in e normal ward rite now...I pray for his speedy recovery...
Aqil has just turned 10 mths last Friday... How fast time flies..I like to watch him sit n play with his toys, making weird sounds, n sumtimes "talk" to him...ehehe..I like putting him to bed, taking off his tiny shoes, making sure he's comfortable in his cot...I like to roll arnd with him, while he climb all over me, n calls me mama with dat sweet voice..watching him clap his hands, n jumping in excitement, turning rnd n rnd, n trying to follow ur every step!.. I like being a MOM... Sure its hectic, sure its no easy job..but seeing him smile just makes my day.. It redefines e meaning of life..Mother's day is approachin, n i'm celebrating it for e 1st time!..hehe..Teres always a first for everything! In case I forget...Hapy Mother's day to al e mothers out tere!!...

MS Word "Expert"
Sigh!...Believe it or not, I am actually bloggin in class! Haha..My colleague, Nita & I registered for a MS Word Expert course... Ceh..doesnt seem as Expert to me now that we are here...ehehe...Ok wait..there's an exam at e end of e course! Beta not talk so much Mama..ehehe...Well ok here's an update of wats been happenin lately;

First & foremost, my dad's in hospital n things have been pretty tough arnd e hse without him.. It's unimaginably hard on him too.. Going thru those operation, one after another... I pray that he gets well soon... I realyy admire his strength n courage in search for a "normal" life.. Oh n thanks to e ppl who have contributed in one way or another, be it by well wishes or monetary..

Oh n baby Aqil's turning 1 soon...I have to start preparing for his bday chalet..its like in 2 mths!...sigh...He's grown so much...n Im starting to miss out all e fun in being tere for his firsts..first sound..first talk...first singing.. ehehe...now he's this active 10 mth old who cant sit still, not even for a minute.. jumping, climbing, walking (or trying to walk)...ehehe..but its all in e name of fun... I'm loving it..ehehe...My hse has been terrorised by tis lil boy! hehe

Hmm n then tere's e Bangkok trip which...sigh i donoo whether is gona happen or not! Sigh... n its supposed to be my much awaited break...yeah rite..

A Fresh Start
Its e start of a brand new year...

2004 has been filled with tears of joy and sadness for me... It was a really challenging yr but Im glad I made it thru with e help of fellow family n great frens... Two of my best buds r now pgnant, Im rely hapy for them! It sure is gona be fun when e lil ones come out n play..ehehe.. Wedding bells are expected this yr.. Congrats folks! Not al of us r dat lucky tho.. One of us had a crashing 2nd half of e yr, but Im glad dat she has moved on.. Another gd fren had to make a diff decision, I gues she never wanted it dat way.. Hope tings will be beta for her n family...

Wel anyway, e best ting dat happened to me in 2004 is e birth of my baby boy, my "Miracle Baby", as wat e doc called him, being born against all odds! Look at him now..my my how he has grown!

Oh! And I made a New Yr resolution: Stay healthy, happy and have an enjoyable, fulfilled life.. Oh n to maintain my temper?! ehehe..

14 September 2004 marks our two years or marriage.. I've known my huby for 5 yrs now, we've been thru evrything together.. He's my confidante, my gossip partner, advisor, shopping pal, best buddy n above all, my loving huby. Over e yrs, Ive learnt to cherish him more, especially after my recent caesarian delivery. He has opened my eyes to a whole new world filled with love n happiness..
I still remember e poem he dedicated to me during e courting days...

Bitter Sweet Symphony..that's life!
When two people are in love, when do u get to a point where enough is enough? "NEVER".
There is NEVER an ultimatum for love; NEVER a thought of "Ive had enuf of u!" ; NEVER a feeling of "love lost". If truly, all dat exists, then in e 1st place, there was NEVER a true love!
Just what the heck am I blabbering here? Well, a very dear fren of mine has just been badly hurt in a long-term relationship she had with a guy whom she met during our poly yrs. It made me think just how much is too much trust? She trusted him more than she ever trusted anyone else. She had faith in him. Sadly, all e faith n trust she had was crumbled by his mindless actions. I felt e pain in her like it was mine, cried with her like i was in this dilemma, but wat I cant do is to make e decision for her to move forward n on with her life. It's up to her now where she's heading. I admire her for her patience all these yrs, but to me, patience has its limits..

Afromama's Down & Out
Arghh!! I don't feel so good! I'm really really sick.. Having fever n all.. It's been one hectic week last week, been working all week thru, dealing with this course I'm administering involving an overseas presenter.. Tere's so much to prepare n he's got a thousand n one requirements.. Gosh, Im seeing less & less of baby Aqil n I hate it. He's turning 3mths tomorrow, gee how fast! He is so cuuuute, he wants to be "talked" to n he will reply in his baby "uhh, ahhh" sounds.. He's starting to laugh (with voice!) n its incredibly sweet, wat more with his cute smiles.. Aiyayayaya.. Wish I can be tere n watch him grow, but sigh, I've got a lot on my plate rite now, esp with my dad's operation coming up in Dec. I still have to slog, till at least my bro graduates next yr.. Hmmm..

Been having sleepless nites too, tinking of work! And with e two men snoring beside me (yes, e lil one snores too!) its naturally hard to fall asleep.. Help sumone! And my womb stitches haven't really healed, takes abt 3-6mths to heal n with all e work I've gota do, I think I may have pushed myself too hard.. Don't these ppl undastand!! I hope it heals well, so I'll have little or no prob having a 2nd baby.. hehe.. May the force be with me!

Food Rendezvous!!
It's a preggy preggy yr! Another of our close fren, Fuse-G is pregnant!! Congrats Fuse-G! Anyway, Fri nite was a nite of wonderful coincidences & food rendezvous! I met up with Cerys in town to take my dvd back, afterwhich we window-shopped at Taka, while I looked for things to "buy" using my vouchers. Coincidentally, Chique & Fuse-G were also in town looking for shoes! We received an sms to meet up in town at arnd 8pm. Fuse-G had a strong desire to eat Marche's mashed potatoes.. What momy wants momy gets! ehehe.. After our Marche rendezvous, we met up with huby deary n headed down to Gelare Cafe at Siglap for another food rendezvous, tis time, ICE-CREAM! YUmyy Yum..I can still feel dat waffle ice-cream in my mouth! Mouth-watering aye!?

A week of fun fun fun!

It was my last week of maternity leave, so we took the chance to bring baby Aqil out before mummy gets bogged down with work work and more work! Argh! I donno how I am get back into the work momentum again and the fact that I could only see Aqil after work really sucks! Baby's day out

We took Baby Aqil out to Tampines Mall. I needed to look for a big bag for his stuffs and a pacifier holder. Luckily, I got an Esprit tote bag for just 9 bucks! It's not the perfect baby bag but dat will do for now! heheee.. Anyway, it was my 1st time bringing him out without huby. But my sistas did a great job helping me. I didn't even need to carry him. Those 2 sistas of mine were arguing over carrying him..hehe.. Rest day for mommy.. I still don't have the confidence of bringing him out alone tho!

Went bowling on Friday night. It has been ages since we last went. I haven't been bowling since last September and I can't bowl till maybe next Jan or so. Anyway, rather than to let our shoes & bowling ball collect dust in e locker, we decided to head on down for a rekindling moment with the game.. We didn't bring e pom-poms to cheer on our hubbies, but we tink they did pretty good! Cheerios!

Went to the gynae yesterday for my pap smear appt. It was not even painful at all. Maybe coz I've been thru worse in my first few mths of pgnancy. My womb is okay, back to its original shape but I was advised to not get pgnant within a yr to let it heal completely. Anyway, we brought baby Aqil along. Yesterday was his playful day.. Just look at him..

My gynae's first words when she saw him were "Oh, its the baby with e thousand lives". Or otherwise known in East Shore as e Miracle Baby, who escaped being placed in the ICU..hehe.. It didnt relly sink into me how lucky I was till I read the recent issue of Young Parents mag which featured a woman whose baby was also born prematured but her case was more unfortunate. My heart goes out to her. I am very thankful dat, so far, baby Aqil has been a healthy, active boy. I hope this will continue on indefinitely. Premature babies r relly hard to take care of when they r young, but dat aside, we've had our joyous moments n certainly look on to more happy days ahead..

Rite now, I have to concentrate on gettin well n staying healthy. Cant be a sickly momy al e time, ay? I've promised to myself dat I'd start eating my greens n not to take my health for granted. Im still feeling sore from e op. Tho externally all dat is left is a long scar under my tumy, I still get on-n-off sharp pains arnd my womb area, prob coz e stitches inside have not healed completely. I had n prob still have a bit of postnatal blues mainly coz: Firstly, Aqil was in hospital for 17 days, n I cried every nite tinking when he's coming home; Then it was e lack of sleep n rest once he came back; Afterwards I felt depressed as I faced difficulty breastfeeding him coz he was so impatient & now I just feel helpless and somewhat not a whole person anymore. Tere r many tings I cant do on my own, like stretching to reach for tings, bending down to pick tings up, standing up for prolonged periods, walking too much or too fast n even cleaning e hse. Im used to walking fast, even when I was pgnant! hehe.. Im also used to doing tings on my own, like I lurrve vacuuming e hse wit Coldplay or Suede blastin in e bgrnd, but now I just have to rely on my huby to do tese tings for me. Im so lookin fwd to e time when I can get back into action. Luckily, getting out of the house occasionally helps me relax n take tings off my mind..

I relly pray dat Pinky wud have a glitch-free pgnancy. Dat way it wil be more mermorable for her since she's been waiting for a baby for so long. As much as I wanted a normal delivery, it rely didnt matter now whether it was a normal or C delivery, as long as in e end both mother n baby r fine. Tho my 1st pgnancy was a difficult one (esp e 1st & 3rd trimester!) it was overal a fun & exciting journey. And since I was told dat my 2nd pgnancy cud be a normal birth, I hope to relive this wonderful journey al ova again in say 2 or 3 yrs time! Remember e gynae's advice; no no no to pgnancy in e nex 1 yr..heheehe.. Her last words to me:"See u nex yr!"..

Had lunch with Chique at TP yesterday as I had to send sumting for my brother. He's on attachment rite now.. Anyway, e vendors at Business canteen r still e same! I never knew babies can be such fun!! Over e last few days, we have brought baby Aqil out.. Evrywhere we go, ppl will stop by to look at baby Aqil, smile at him and some even play with him.. Babies lurve to see other babies too! Tere was tis 1+ old baby who pointed to Aqil and said "Bayyybyyy" in her cute babyish talk n she was soo excited to see him.. And ten tere r some who go like "So cute! So cute!".. hehe... Tell me, which baby is not cute? All babies r cute! So adorable! N babies make gd conversational topics too.. A first-time pgnant lady I met at a mini baby fair held on to Baby Aqil's hand while talking to us, n she doesnt seem like she wana let go..hehe.. She said she cant wait to see her baby's face.. I told her e first touch with ur baby was a sentimental moment for mother n baby as e baby bonds with u.. Newborn babies recognise their mothers thru the mother's warmth n smell (smell?? yikes!) She was so excited.. Wat I didnt tell her was e frequent feedin times n e "sleepless in tampines" nites I have gone thru. And baby Aqil has his days; sleeping day, crying day, playful day n e list goes on n on.. On his playful days, he will kick n punch n make cute "Eh-Uh-Ah-Oh-Uh" sounds..ekeke..On his sleeping days, noting u ever put to his ears will wake him up! Of course, on his crying days, noone gets anyting done at home! Here look at him below, tis was taken while I was trying to change him. He cant stop turning arnd! Grrrr....

Boy wat a nite it was! I was glad I decided to go to Fuse-G's wedding dinner.. Stil in confinement, but wat da heck! hehe.. I was told dat evryone's gona be in kebayas, so I rumaged thru my wardrobe to find e only kebaya dat I can stil fit.. So tere we were, dressed in kebayas, ready for a nite of fun.. Hmm, we looked like e "pompuan jogets" of Silver Tortoise Club..ekeke..

Anyway, Fuse-G looked gorgeous in her pure white dress! Everytin was great except dat we had to wait fer e "2nd round" fer our turn to eat, n by then it was 9.30! Wat else cud we do to pass time, but to snap snap snap..ehehe..Tis e prob with digicams.. hehe

We managed to get a group pic with e bride & groom later dat nite.. It was already 10+ n we were deciding where to go as the nite was stil "young"..hehe.. We ended up headin for Al-Azhar, but not before we managed to change our "berkat" on our way out..ehehe..

Yesterday's episode of "Friends" is by far the funniest of this season..."Two thumbs up"..I was laughing so hard, I had to hold a cushion to my tummy for fear dat the operation stitches on my womb might "unstitch" or sumting...ekeke... Lurve e floating heads part..Simply hilarious..A pity its gona end soon, I've been an ardent fan since its very first season...Neva got bored of it..Wel teres an end to everyting, n tis is one of tose which will be greatly missed!

HBO was showing "Clueless" last nite.. I was brought back to e 1st time I watched e show, which was in 1st yr poly! Boy..dat was like 7 or 8 yrs ago! Gosh.. Reminiscence of e good ol dayss again! Bathing issues??

I've said tis before n Im sayin it again..Cant imagine how fast time passes by! Baby Aqil is 1 mth old today!! I had my first hands-on session of bathing him by myself today..hehe..it was fun! Lucky for me, he loves to bathe, doesnt cry at all; prolly cause I bathed like 4-5 times a day when I was pgnant...Hmm, suddenly remembered my felow frens who ehmm, dont rely bathe if tey r not goin out.. ehehe...

Chique & Fuse-G came by last nite.. Saw Fuse-G's huge weding invitation card...ekeke..."e song! e song!" Sory I cant be tere fer u weding... Sigh...

Look at Aqil now..from e 1.47kg tiny baby to 2+kg now...Yippee!

Im down with fever! Feelin all e throbbin pain arnd my tumy! Luckily i stil have my painkillas..otherwise, i'll just faint! The pain is excruciating!..arghh..

Anyway, e gals ambushed my hse last sun for a piza fiesta, but no pizas were harmed during e entire session..ekeke.. Had a rely great time, considering i havent seen tem for weeks! Ahh..when's tis confinement period gona be over?

Tried on my pants..tey get stuck at e butt area!! Helppsshh!.. Question: How do u get those inches off ur butt in e quickest possible time?

Im stil tinkin of how to decorate Aqil's room, a tot dat has been shelved for months! Hmm..dat was sumtin dat was supposed to be done tis mth, but ermm he was over-excited to see e world.. Back to e drawin board..ekeke

Hurrah Hurrah!! Weekend was a blast! Loads of ppl came by to see Baby Aqil.. Passed from one hand to another, he seemed undisturbed by it al n slept rite thru..ekeke.. Lucky fer Pinky, she came at a time when Aqil had his eyes wide open.. Cheeky Aqil! ekeke.. Well, seems like hes gona have a fren soon! Yeah! Our prayers have been answered! One good news afta anoter, no wonda tey say dat every baby brings good luck, in one way or anoter!..

*Countin* Hmm.. Soo it wil be March next yr ay? ehehe... Cant wait.. Enjoy e pgnancy while it lasts, my fren... Its e best time ever! No housewk, being pampered n showered with attention esp by huby dearest..ekeke.. Of course, teres e mornin sickness n e water retention n wateva nots, but it doesnt affect everyone.. Lets hope urs will be a smooth sailin one! ;)

Hey..forgot to mention dat I just had my massage session today..Boy does it relly hurts! But after al dat, I feel refreshed! A bit hot too, since e lady put sum tingy on my forehead, arnd my tumy n oter "where e sun dont shine" places..ekeke..Err, n teres so many "donts" n "not-to-eat" foods dat I have to carefully n erm painfully folow till my 3 mths is up..3 mths!! See tis is wat hapens wen u go fer a C-delivery...sigh..sob sob..Maybe I cant even go to Fuse-G's weding! Save dat space on e rite side of e pelamin fer me..ekeke

The news everyone has been waitin for!! Baby Aqil is back!!! YEAAHH!! Gues he got bored of e nursery already.. hehe.. He gained substantial weight n e doc says he can be discharged! I was soo ecstatic!! We got everytin ready for his big homecomin! Of course, he was sleepin thruout e journey home! Sleepyhead! ekeke.. Anyway, wh r e pizzas babes? ekeke

*Tappin my fingers on e desk* When is Baby Aqil comin back? Sigh... Was a lil hopeful at ferst when he starts gainin abt 40g per day, but it was shortlived happines.. He's back to 10g/day gain.. Baby Aqil's stil not back yet..He's err getin a yitle bit too comfortable tere! ekeke... He has his own "parking space" at e corner in e nursery, n noting, n I mean NOTIN, can disturb his peaceful sleep, not even when one baby starts to ry n others folow! He wil still be sound asleep..ekeke.. Sleepy Head!(Now wher have i heard dat before..ekeke) He's like e senior resident in dat nursery.."Ta-ge" (big Brother)..ekekeke..But e good ting is dat hes gainin weight, slowly but surely...Sure I miss him, but at least I know he is wel taken care of tere, n I get to rest n completely recover till he gets back..ekeke..

To e godaunts, since I cant show u e real baby Aqil, well u wil just have to make do with these pics fer now..ekeke..save dat piza tot fer later!..ekeke

My Water Broke!!

Just when I was countin down e weeks to my expected delivery date of 8 July, my water broke while I was restin on my couch watchin my fave sitcom Friends.. Shit! Could tis be it?! I stood up as clear, almost sticky water ran down my swollen legs.. I stared at my huby mouthing e words "Tink my water broke".. He froze n stared blankly at me fer abt a min before grabbin my hand n bringin me to e toilet.. By then I've almost flooded e whole hse with e drippin water.. Chaos struck e hse as I called my mom n he called my gynae.. We were instructed to head to e hospital.. Mins later we were on our way, my huby tryin his best to remain calm while I was busy callin n sms-ing my frens.. ehehe..

Still dripin when we reached e hospital, I started to feel e shivers as I was brought to e labour ward, with women screamin in pain n mins later e wondaful cries of a baby filled e tensed atmosphere.. I was startin to feel mini labour pains, but was put on drip to ease e pain n slow down e proces. This, accordin to my gynae was done to buy time fer my lil baby n stabilise my womb.. I was given at least 2 injections on my butt.. Couldnt sleep e whole nite tinkin of my fate..

1 June 2004.. It was my mom's bday.. I looked at e clock on e wall.. 6.30am - I was supposed to be getin ready fer work, then I was to go to my gynae's clinic in e aftanoon. I was on MC e day before, n my co. doc had advised me to see my gynae as my water retention was getin bad n my blood pressure had shot up.. I always had low blood pressure even thruout e pgnancy, but apparently, now its shot up! Ironically, now Im lyin on e hospital bed, waitin fer my gynae.. Tossed n turned, havin bad heartburn, vomitted at least 3 times.. I just want to get tis over n done with..

10am- My gynae came to check on me.. I was one month early, but tere was noting dat can be done now.. My water has broke, prob due to my sudden high blood pressure, n at tis stage we had to take e baby out, else it will be dangerous fer either one of us, or even both.. My baby's head was not down yet, so e decision was to go for e op at 1pm.. I was told dat my baby wud prob have to be put in e ICU fer some time..I cried, in fear, n in disappointment as I wanted to go thru my 1st delivery e normal way.. Tank god I had my huby tere to comfort me.. Soon, another jab at e butt was given, I was inserted with e urinary tube, a painful n uncomfortable experience... 12.30pm - I was handed a shower cap, pushed to e cold operatin theatre while I laid down on e small operatin bed, with some monitorin devices fixed onto my body n I wait fer e dreaded moment.. 1.20pm - I was given last min speeched n instructions before being put to sleep..

2.40pm - "Lisa..wake up Lisa, we're goin to bring u to ur ward now..Can u hear us? Ok, we r goin to transfer u to another bed now..slowly, here goes.." Ouch! Ouchhhhh!! I could feel e pain as I was transfered from e op bed to e trolley bed n then to e bed in my ward.. Tremendous, throbin pain around my tumy area.. In between e drowsines n e pain, I saw my family standin around me callin out my name.. "Hows Aqil? Where's he?" I asked.. Relief came ova me as my huby told me dat he is fine, doin great n he didnt have to go ICU. Later, my gynae told me how lucky I was. She reenacted how sad she felt as she saw e tiny body of Baby Aqil when she cut open my tumy.. She pitied him as he was so small, only 1.4kg at birth, but his cries almost brought e whole op room down! When put to e suckin test, he passed with flyin colours, he had e suction power of a turbo engine! hehe, n dat spared him e ICU! Dats my boy.. My gynae called him a miracle boy, a fighter, as she recalled how he was almost "washed" during my early pgnancy, as they cudnt detect his heartbeat.. Afta al dat we have gone thru together from day 1, he IS my lil fighter!..

4 June 2004 - I was discharged, but my lil baby had to stay at least fer another week or so till he's much biger n fitter to go home.. It was e hardest ting I had to do, pushin him back to e nursery, as he stared at me with his small lil eyes, as tho he knew he was gona be left behind.. Tears filled my eyes, as I left e hospital, but I was adamant on getin well so dat I cud look afta him when he comes back..

6 June 2004 - I have been goin to n fro e hospital ever since I was discharged to breastfeed my baby, to talk to him, n play with him, so dat he cud grow healthier n stronger n come back with us.. Despite e pain n uncomfort I still feel from e op, I gues its a mother's strength dat pushes her to e limits.. Just seeing n touchin him drives e pain away.. Lookin back, I cudnt have had e strength to go thru al tis without e support n love of my huby who has always been tere fer me, n never did complained even tho he was tired, n esp now wen I more dependent on him than ever as I recuperate from my painful op.. Napi, I am e most luckiest woman in e world becoz I have u by my side..

Some of us gals headed on down to a fren's hse yesterday to see her new cute baby, whose name is Aqil too.. (Hehe dats wat Im gona name my baby boy when he steps into e world next mth! Wooo...) Her Aqil is soo adorable, so cute, so yumy lookin dat I cant wait to see mine! I had my fair chance of carrying him tho its fer a wile.. I panicked! I dono how to cary young babies, esp of dat age..
